学术预告:Design and fabrication of ultrathin c-Si solar cells for next industrial applications

 报告简介By far, crystalline silicon (c-Si) solar cells are the most important photovoltaics (PV), which have dominated the global photovoltaics (PV) market with a share of above 90%. Due to the cost of the Si material alone accounts for up to 40% of total module cost, thin and ultrathin c-Si solar cells are of unique potential to be cost-effective candidate for next industrial applications. At present, ultrathin c-Si solar cells have attracted more and more attentions with efficiency progressing. In this talk, I will review the research progress in this research area first and then present our research results in my group over the past two years, which include the design, simulation, and fabrication. Particularly, I will present our latest research progress about 18.1%-efficiency for 17 mm-Si base thickness, which represents the highest efficiency for c-Si solar cells for Si thicknesses less than 20 min the international  research community.  

 

 

Wensheng Yan (严文生) is working at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology of Germany as a Group Leader of Nanostructured Photovoltaics. His current research interest includes 1st, 2nd, and 3rd generation silicon solar cells. He was the recipients of highly prestigious Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) Postdoctoral Fellowship (2012) and Humboldt Research Fellowship for Experienced Researchers of Germany (2016). At present, he serves as regular reviewers for about 30 international academic journals. In the meantime, Yan is a guest professor at Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications, and Chongqing’s BaYu distinguished professor (Provincial level), China. His research achievements in the area of Si PV have been reported and highlighted by hundreds of newspapers and internet media.
